About the Crewzers
The Columbus Crewzers Professional Dance Team is the official dance and cheerleading team for Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew. The Crewzers, under the leadership of Director Kelly Brooks and Assistant Director Joan Schaffer, were the first such team in the nation, and currently the premier dance team in Major League Soccer.
The Columbus Crewzers perform at each home game where they delight Columbus soccer fans with two performances. Their pre-game and half-time dances vary from hip-hop, to jazz, to kick and pom-pom styles. They’ve even been known to throw in some classic dramatics such as Fosse’s “All That Jazz” and the Halloween tradition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. The second half of the game finds the Crewzers cheering their team on from the sidelines and rallying the crowd to their feet.
The Crewzers are comprised of career women and college students who commit themselves to countless hours each week to make them the dynamic team they are. Backgrounds include everything from company executives, school teachers, government officials, student athletes, nurses, stylists and moms! The squad has a variety of ages, although ladies must be 18 years of age to be eligible for the team.
